FAQ’s

What is your specialty?

I specialize in fantasy-themed props, cosplay, and accessories, with a special focus on prop melee weapons. I also enjoy hands on sculptural work, and can make a wide range of armor pieces, magical trinkets, and accessories. My work is mostly created with EVA foam, Worbla, clay, silicone molds, and resin casts. You can view some examples of my past work in my Portfolio.

How long does it take to make a custom prop?

This answer varies greatly from prop to prop! The intricacy, size, and customization of your piece will help determine the timeline for your project. To make a very generalized assumption, a custom prop can take anywhere from three weeks to two months of working time. Important to note: this time frame does not account for my current commission and convention schedule at any given time. When you request an estimate, I’ll be sure to inform you of a possible start date and an estimated duration to create your custom prop or cosplay piece.

What materials do you use?

The most common materials I use to craft are: Urethane plastic, resin, silicone, and epoxies (typically from my local Reynolds store), Worbla’s Finest Art, EVA foam, vegetable tanned leather, various types of clay, enamels, and acrylic paints. I am familiar with a wide range of other materials as well, and always suggest materials best suited to your needs and budget in my written estimates.

I do not currently work with metal to fashion real weapons. All my weapons should be considered “prop” replicas, and are safe for use at conventions.

Do you use a 3D printer?

While I prefer to create most of my pieces by hand, I am able to provide 3D modeling and printing services for projects when necessary. I will be able to determine if 3D is the best method for your prop as part of your estimate. All my 3D work is designed in Blender and printed in SLA resin.

I am also able to provide assembly, finishing, and painting of both SLA and FDM 3D prints on commission if you supply the printed parts.

Do you make LARP weapons?

No, I currently do not create LARP-approved props or weapons. My custom props are created to appear as realistic as possible, and are intended to be used as ornamental cosplay props, as well as for home display.

Can you make me a full set of cosplay armor?

As of September 2021 I am only accepting full armor and cosplay commissions for corporate engagements in which I will wear the cosplay. I do not currently accept full costume or armor commissions intended for others to wear.

I am still able to create individual helmets and pauldrons, as well as weapons and other handheld or tabletop props. If you are looking for a specific armor piece, I will assess my ability to create an armor piece on a case by case basis.

What is your current timeline?

My commission slots for 2023 are full. I am currently pausing acceptance of non-corporate commissions, but will reply to every request I receive with an estimated price range. I can also be sure to keep your contact information on file and reach out as soon as I am ready to begin accepting private commissions once again.

Please fill out the form below if you are interested in being contacted back. (Updated September 27, 2023)

What's your custom prop process?

In order for me to understand what kind of prop you’re looking for, I need some details from you first. Use the form below to supply me with information about your fandom, piece, timeline, and budget. All this information will help me build a picture of the necessary materials, labor, and timeline.

After filling out the form below, you’ll receive a response from me via email. Once I clarify any outstanding questions I may have regarding your request, I can begin your estimate. Your finished write up will include a detailed estimate as a PDF, breaking down the cost for materials, labor by the hour, and a timeline based on my current schedule. The estimate also includes my terms and conditions for you to review. All my estimates are valid for 15 days.

If you approve my supplied estimate, I convert it into a contract of work, and will send it to you for digital signature. I then collect a deposit (amount is the cost of materials) to secure your project dates and add you to my production queue.

I require 50% of the labor cost at project start, during which time I will begin sending you regular updates via email, text, or phone. I send progress photos, fill you in on key decisions and moments during the build, and make any timeline or material adjustments as needed and if agreed upon by you. At project completion, I collect the remaining 50% of my labor cost, as well as the cost to ship your piece. Once your project has been paid in full, I ship it to you via UPS or USPS.

* I am not currently booking non-corporate commissions, and will not supply detailed estimates for non-corporate work * I will still happily respond to each inquiry with high-level estimates via email * Updated September 27, 2023

I have a different question.
