From Overwatch to Ophelia VII

When you are fueled by justice, driven by duty, and bound to protect the Imperium—you may need more than one character to embody the spectrum of your might! Inspired by Overwatch, this Sister of Battle was made to both protect the innocent, and root out heresy at every turn.

With the blessing of Convent Sanctorum, I’ve combined the forces of justice to create the Pharah Sister of Battle helmet.

Making the Sister of Battle Helmet

The Pharah Sister of Battle helmet began as a custom design. I wanted the silhouette to be quickly recognizable as a Sister of Battle, so began with that basic outline. From there I added layers and details that drew directly from Overwatch character art for Pharah. These included the pointed “beak” shape at the front, as well as double winged “ears” on either side to mimic the embellishments on her helmet.

Once the design was approved, I worked up a pattern using my work on Darth Revan as a jumping off point. With the base constructed, I created additional custom patterns to make up the front and side helmet details. These were cut and applied using layers of EVA foam in various thicknesses. This included the use of sticky-back 1mm craft foam to create the custom “Eye of Horus” that makes the Sister of Battle helmet definitively Pharah. Corrugated garden tubing was sealed and painted for the back detail.

All EVA portions were then sealed in Plastidip, and painted with acrylics before being sealed with a flexible satin varnish. To round out the final look, polarized lenses were taken from a pair of sunglasses and epoxied to the interior of the helmet.
