Soul Edge Meets Siegfried

It has been given many names, “The Sword of Salvation”, “The Sword of Heroes”, and “The Ultimate Sword,” and has been sought by many warriors throughout history. Forged as an ordinary sword, Soul Edge became infested by an evil spirit known as Inferno. Along with it’s infestation, Soul Edge began to shape-shift, taking a unique appearance for each malfested wielder.

For this custom commission, Soul Edge takes on the appearance of Siegfried’s classic Zweihander to become a truly wicked weapon.

“Nothing is known for certain about the sword, except for one thing: it brings misfortune to those seeking it.”

What’s it Made Of?

The Soul Edge Zweihander was created using a solid XPS foam base, cut and sanded to shape. The hilt also used EVA foam and Worbla’s Black Art to create it’s extruded shape. A sphere of floral foam was cut in half and glued in place to create the base of the eye on both sides, and the entire blade was then sealed with a coat of Epsilon epoxy for increased impact resistance. Hilt details resembling Siegfried’s sword were created with Apoxie Sculpt. The branching veins surrunding Soul Edge’s eye are sculpted with Paperclay, with distinct branching patterns on both sides of the blade. Final painting was done with hand brushed acrylic.

Other final touches included a dyed leather wrap around the hilt, hand painted venules around each eye, and a coat of quik-cure epoxy on each eye for a reflective, wet look. A hidden male and female PVC adapter allow the handle to easily unscrew for travel or storage.
